10 Most Beautiful Finnish Stamps

(FINNBAY) – Helsinki, 10 February 2014. The stamp designed by Ari Lakaniemi and Susanna Rumpu featuring child figures originally from an old post card, the enchanting Christmas Hug, have been selected as the most beautiful Finnish stamp of 2013.

The Christmas Hug stamp got a total of 18,224 votes (10.5% of all votes) from the Posti website users. The background of the stamp glows warm and golden, creating the mood of candlelight. The stamp was issued in November 2013 by Itella.

Sauna on the Shore by Emil Bertell came in second with 8.9% of all votes. The stamp was published as part of the Signs of Fall miniature sheet of five stamps. The theme of this sheet, published in September 2013, is autumn in the countryside and the city.

With 6.5% of the votes, the third most beautiful stamp was designed by Kaarina Toivanen, featuring a dark red traditional rose pictured using modern techniques. The stamp was published in May 2013.
