Helsinki City Launches 105-Year-Old Wooden Tram Tours

(FINNBAY) – Helsinki, 17 May 2014. Helsinki city transport will launch museum tram rides on a 105-year-old wooden tram during summer weekends until the end of August.

The museum tram restoration work got underway in 2010, and the process was completed this spring. A large part of the restoration consists of skillful Estonian handicraft. The final touches to the car were put at the Vallila tram depot of Helsinki City Transport.

The tram tours start at the Helsinki Market Square from 10:00 to 17:00 (departing at every full hour and half hour). The length of the tour is 15 minutes running from the Market Square through Kruunuhaka, Kaisaniemi, Railway Station and Aleksanterinkatu ending back at the Market Square.

The tram fare is €5 and public transport tickets are not accepted.
