(FINNBAY) – Helsinki, 25 May 2014. The city of Helsinki is preparing itself for the launch of the swimming season on 2 June. About 26 beaches in Helsinki are being cleaned (sea bottoms) by divers.
The city also marks the swimming areas and are the waste bins are emptied. Supervised beaches will be opened to the public from 2 June to 10 August 2014.

The swimming water quality is monitored by the City of Helsinki Environment Centre, which reports on the hygienic quality of water and presence of toxic blue-green algae both at the beaches.
